Privacy Policy
Plotty is a free iPhone app for exploring mathematical functions. This Privacy Policy explains what information Plotty (“Plotty,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you use the app and this website. The app does not collect personal information for us or automatically upload your functions. Sharing content and opening website links are actions you choose.
Information we collect
The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and makes no network requests of its own. It does not provide iCloud sync. Its settings and favorites are stored locally; device backups are managed separately by iOS and your backup settings:
- Settings and favorites — your visible function types, graph display options, onboarding state, and saved favorites live in the app's own on-device storage. We never receive them.
- Custom expressions — expressions entered in the free plotter are evaluated on your device. They are not automatically uploaded to us.
- Photos — if you save a function image, iOS asks for permission to add it to your photo library. The app only ever adds images and cannot read your library.
- Sharing — you can share a function image or an interactive link through the iOS share sheet. A link contains either a predefined function type and its parameter values or the expression you entered in the free plotter. Anyone with the link can read that content; links are not private or access-controlled. The service you select processes shared content under its own privacy policy.
- Website log data — opening a page on this site produces standard server logs at our hosting provider, including your IP address, the requested URL, the time of the request, and your browser's user agent. Opening a shared function link may include its function, parameter values, or custom expression in the requested URL and server logs. Messaging services may also request the page to generate a link preview. Opening the privacy policy from the app visits this website in your browser.
How we use information
Server log data is used only to deliver this website and keep it secure, on the basis of our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. It is not combined with anything else and is not used to identify you or to build a profile. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Service providers
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., which processes the log data described above as our processor under a data processing agreement. Apple distributes the app through the App Store and handles that relationship under its own privacy policy. There are no other processors, because the app itself transmits no data.
Retention and deletion
The app's local settings and favorites are removed when you delete the app; offloading the app preserves its data. You can delete individual favorites and change settings inside the app. Exported images remain in your photo library until you delete them there. Content already shared with other services and copies in device backups follow those services' and iOS' retention settings. Server logs are short-lived and expire automatically under our hosting provider's retention schedule. We hold no user database, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Security and international processing
This site is served over encrypted connections. Because Vercel is based in the United States, the log data described above is transferred to a third country; that transfer is safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses included in Vercel's data processing agreement. No system is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We do not receive the app's local data. Requests concerning this website may relate to the hosting log data described above, including IP addresses.
Children's privacy
The Plotty app is made for students and does not collect personal information for us, regardless of age. It contains no advertising, tracking, or public user-content feed. Website requests and voluntary sharing are subject to the processing described above.
